Not only I had a blast in Hungary

So did my trusty MacBookPro. In evening rush hour in Budapest airport somehow my laptop was pushed off the conveyor belt of the security screener – and the poor thing landed right down to the marble floor. The LCD is clearly broken, there is some hope that hard disk survived, let see what Apple service has to say.

The most bummer part is that I can not afford to repair the thing or get a replacement to it, so my online presence and Drupal contribution level is pushed back to minimum what is truly a shame – at least for a while.

There is some irony in it: we talked in Szeged UX sprint quite a lot about low-tech usability and paper prototyping. I was not expecting that day will come so soon. I am off to stationary store to grab a “PaperBookPro” now. ;)

Damn irony or not, that's a

Damn irony or not, that's a real pity. Just wanted to say it was real good to meet you in Szeged. So far, lots of continued activity in the usability group. I really hope we can keep this going.

Be sure to backup your PaperBook Pro to the internets as often as possible!

Applecare don't cover

Applecare don't cover accidental damage. You'll be very, very lucky to get it repaired without them charging an awful lot. I feel for your loss :(.

Damn! That's totally

Damn! That's totally fubar… :(

I hope you can do some work anyway. And you'll have more time to play Fluxx… ;)

oh… man… :( that is a stinking bummer…

shame about not having travel insurance, but those crazy guys at the airport- are they not responsible to make sure your laptop is secure in a grey bin thing? i suppose it's past the stage of blame now.

a refurbished laptop might be a good alternative- if it would make your target a bit closer.

can you add a little tip jar to your site, please? i'd like to make a contribution.

BTW- i love fluxx! maybe at another con we could have a little game :)

I know how you feel … My

I know how you feel … My laptop just lost access to 80% of its RAM due to motherboard problems, and everything runs slow as molasses (from 1.2gig down to 256meg RAM, Argh !! ) Its to old for AppleCare but a replacement wasn't in my budget yet either.

Just remember, if the only problem is the display, you might be able to hook it up to an external monitor. It won't be portable, but that might give you something to work with till the cash comes together. Good luck

BTW if there is one in your area, you might want to try an Authorized independent Apple Repair place. They are sometimes a bit more flexible as to what is covered under Apple Care.
